XP Themes and how to use it

Have you ever thought of changing your XP theme to something different? Maybe themes with anime pictures? You can try this. Visit here to find some themes, mainly anime themes of course :D

The themes doesn't only contain images for your theme, but also the welcome tone and the shut down tone also :) 


After you download it.. how to use it? ...



First of all when I found this, I'm also filled with questions. Later on, I finally found how to use it properly :) Here's how.


After you download the file:
1. Extract the contents.

2. Move the contents to the directory C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes

3. Open Display Properties (right-click on Desktop>Properties or find it in Control Panel>Display)

4. On the Themes tab, choose on the dropdown bar. The theme's name should be there already :D

5. Choose it. For some themes, you can find more variations of the theme in the Appearance tab in dropdown bar Color Scheme

Q: The picture in the Music, Picture and Video folder didn't come out! What should I do? I love the pictures!


A: Try to look in Control Panel>Performance and Maintenance(in Categorized View)>Adjust Visual Effects>Visual Effects tab. Choose custom and find the "Use background image for each folder type" checkbox. Check it. You should find it working.


Q: The themes comes with sounds right? How if I want to change it?


A: You can find the sounds in C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\(theme name)\sounds
 You can change the  sounds as long as you rename it with the same original name. For example, the original name in the folder is 'off.wav' and you want to change it with the sound 'ending.wav'
You should delete the first file with the name 'off.wav' and change 'ending.wav' to 'off.wav' to match the original name. If you don't do that, the sounds will play it's default Windows shut down sound. For your own note, the theme only accepts '.wav' type of sound files. So you better check it before you change it :)


Q: How you change the icons?


A: Same like the sound files, you must change the file name to the original one. Same rules, diiferent folders
